People usually stop over Livingstone, Zambia for a quick trip to see Victoria Falls. While the falls is the main attraction of the area, it was the people and the Zambezi river that we unexpectedly fell in love with. With all of our travels, we can think of a handful of special places that we have stayed. Sindabezi Island is one of them.
Cage diving with Great White Sharks has been on our bucket list for some time. There are arguably three places in the world where you can see Great White Sharks pretty consistently; Australia, Mexico and South Africa. The first two locations require a great deal of traveling. It was a no-brainer that we would try to dedicate one day to drive 2 hours to dive with Great Whites.
South Africa has been on our bucket list for some time. I don't think you can turn the pages of a travel magazine without seeing Cape Town as one of the most beautiful cities in the world. We had high expectations and Cape Town delivered.
Ever since we started traveling, it has always been just the two of us. Traveling as a couple is easy, but with a group that's never traveled together, have never met each other and are coming from different styles of traveling (and situations, more to come) was a whole different ball game. This was our first trip as a group and it was sure to be exciting. But what made it easy? Traveling with people who are flexible, laid back and share a common adventurous spirit...
When planning a trip to Spain, I have yet to meet someone who does not put Barcelona on their list. Naturally, it was a main stop for us when visiting Spain and the city we spent the most time in. We were glad we did as there are so many things to do, places to eat and areas to explore in and around Barcelona. We understood immediately why it is everyone's favorite city. It has everything anyone can ask for: beaches, mountains, city life, culture, history, architecture, Michelin-start dining, and the list literally goes on and on...
When we envisioned going to Spain, we have always known we were going to start with Madrid. It was the perfect start of what would be a modern, historical and cultural visit to a quintessential European trip.
Our experience in the Ngorongoro Crater was beyond wildlife viewing (although to see such density of wildlife in such a small area was pretty amazing). Maybe it was because we were in the seat of humanity, where the earliest specimen of human species was discovered. Or maybe the the people in our camp and the local Maasai truly did feel like we were a part of their family. In either case, it truly is one world, one people when a black man from Chicago and Filipino woman from Philippines/Vegas is made to feel like a brother and sister.
The thought of going to a safari always brings images of elephants with long tusks, lions on kopjes, cheetahs on rolling plains, and The Lion King music in our heads... The Serengeti brought exactly that and so much more!
We set out to attend the Rio Summer Olympic Games right after watching the London Summer Olympic Games. The last Games triggered a need to participate and be present in the celebration of sports and athleticism on an international arena in a city and country we have always wanted to go to. So we signed up for the Newsletter and patiently waited for Rio...
Kenya, our first transcontinental trip with a baby. And boy, were we in for an experience of a lifetime. By now we consider ourselves pretty seasoned travelers. But traveling with a baby in tow is a whole different ball game. Overall, traveling to Kenya with an almost 6 month old was definitely doable, not as difficult as imagined, but still harder than traveling sans children.
