Last summer, my friends and I decided to explore the Great Sand Dunes. I had seen so many beautiful pictures and couldn't believe a gem like this existed in our backyard (figuratively speaking).
An adventure in Colorado is not an adventure unless you find yourself in the skechiest situation. Prior to heading to the Dunes, we decided to hike a 14er. In this case, we wanted to check Mt. Princeton off our list. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate and we had to turn around. We drove our little 4WD on this road so we could get as close to the trail head as possible. Needless to say, it was one of the most stickiest driving we have ever done.
One of the best things about living in Colorado is finding all sorts of things to do in all different times of the year. We made a post hike Pit(ts) stop at Princeton Hot Springs. It was amazing!
The following day, we made our way to the Dunes. It lived up to its hype plus more!
The most awesome part of going to the Dunes is sand sledding or sand boarding. Channeling our inner child was the highlight of the trip!
